Over The Top
Over The Top, along with Over by Christmas, was produced in 2014 to meet a requirement for the National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, MO, and to satisfy the needs of a second client for use as a concrete experience in the classroom.
Over the Top is a simulation of the first day of the Battle of the Somme in July 1, 1916. It was the bloodiest day in the history of the British Army with over 55,000 soldiers killed, wounded, or missing in action. The entire game experience lasts about 3-4 minutes when played for the first time. Subsequent attempts to improve tactical success and reduce combat losses is reduced to 1-3 minutes. The game was intentionally designed to be "easy to learn and simple to use" so that people of all ages and backgrounds can experience the challenge of World War I command.
